Indian Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, who currently is in Washington to attend the meetings of International Monetary Fund and World Bank, has made a vital discussion on the issue of reforms in the H1-B/L1 visa processing in the bilateral talks with US Commerce as well as Treasury Secretaries.

In the meeting, he is accompanied with the Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Urjit Patel and Economic Affairs Secretary, Subhash Chandra Garg.

The statement released by the Finance Ministry said that the finance minister made a strong case for the reforms in H1-B/L1 visa processing in order to prevent the financial deprivation of the Indian nationals contributing in US economy. He also asserted that skilled Indian nationals in US must be “suitably appreciated” by the US.

The discussions took place with US Treasury Secretary and US Commerce Secretary on the sidelines of the meetings of World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

In the meeting, Jaitley also stressed upon India’s move to make bold reforms through measures such as Goods and Services Tax, action against the shadow economy and financial inclusion.

The finance minister also had a meeting with CEOs of World Bank and Global Infrastructure Hub along with Executive Vice President and CEO of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
