Yet, another Indian-American investment banker, Harry Arora, 48, is planning to run for the US House of Representatives from a Congressional seat in Connecticut. Arora seeks to oust Jim Himes, Democratic incumbent. Since 2009 January, Himes has been representing the 4th Congressional District.

Arora said in a statement, “My understanding of economics and policy framework will allow me to propose thoughtful policies to reverse the harm being inflicted by current policies. After a successful business career, I want to serve the public cause. I consider that my duty.”

Indian-borne Arora has been a partner since 2012 in Northlander Commodity Advisors, which is a London-based firm specializing in energy trading. In 2006, Arora founded ARCIM Advisors, his own energy fund, where he rose to the rank of vice president after a decade.

Arora wants to have a Republican voice in Samosa Caucus. It is an the informal group of Indian-Americans in the US House of Representatives. This would be Arora’s maiden attempt into electoral politics.

At present, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Ami Bera, Pramila Jayapal, and Ro Khanna, are the four Indian-Americans in the US House of Representatives from the Democratic party.
