Sunil Amrith receives MacArthur Fellowship Program

Indian-American historian Sunil Amrith along with 24 other individuals have been selected for the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship program, which offers a huge amount of $625,000 over the period of five years, according to the report published in The New York Times.

The fellowship, which is commonly known as Genius Fellowship, is aimed at encouraging the talented people in pursuing intellectual, creative and professional fields.

The 38-year-old Sunil Amrith has been selected for the topic “Illustrating the role of centuries of transnational migration in the present-day social and cultural dynamics of South and Southeast Asia”. Amrith is currently working as a professor of History in Harvard University.

According to the foundation, the talented historian is working in the redefining the history of South and Southeast Asia for better understanding of the history of the region.
