With 233 new cases reported in Singapore, the authorities reported that 59 of them are Indians. According to the numbers shared by the health ministry, the number of confirmed cases in Singapore currently stands at 2,532.

Out of the 233 new cases, it is believed that 51 of them are linked with the known clusters, while 15 of them are reported from prior cases. The remaining 167 cases have no possible links to earlier confirmed cases or travel histories. The government is trying to trace the contacts and ensure to understand the source.

The officials have identified seven new clusters or the common places of gatherings around including one at a five star restaurant. The restaurant has already been linked to 8 cases and a local McDonald’s has also been reported with 5 new cases, highlighting it as a possible hotspot.

Out of the 976 hospitalised cases in the country, 31 of them are in critical care in the intensive care unit while the rest are reported to be stable and in general quarantined wards.

Aside from that, there have been reports of 988 confirmed cases in Singapore who are doing relatively well. They are either isolated or cared for in the community facilities instead of being hospitalised at the moment.

Further reports have also linked four new cases of Covid-19 associated with the Indian store of Mustafa Centre, taking the total to 82.

The ministry stated saying that they are going to take stricter monitoring of the dormitories to ensure better hygiene and to prevent further spread of such conditions.

In order to control the spread, the authorities have also imposed a number of circuit breaker measures to control this. Some of the instructions issued include wearing of masks in the public transport and even closing all the beaches around in Singapore.

The markets and the stores have also been advised to prevent entry of the people without a mask. The food chains have also been warned to be fined if their workers don’t wear mask and the necessary safety precautions aren’t taken.

The circuit breaker period in Singapore is from April 7 to May 4, betwee which the citizens are only allowed to leave their houses in case they need essentials for their homes. Further reports have not been shared on the possible circuit breaker period in the country.
