Last week, the death of a 46-year-old African-American Floyd in Minneapolis has created a ruckus and this was one of the biggest civic unrest in the History of America.

According to PTI, over 70 people who demonstrated against the custodial killing of George Flyod get a home because of an Indian-American businessman who opened the doors of his home for them. He is seen as a hero after he rescued the strangers from the clutches of the police, fed them and made sure they were safe in his house.

For 17 years now, Rahul Dubey, has been living in Washington DC. He gave shelter to large number of people in his house. A few of them adjusted on the couch, some of them found spaces in the rooms, while some were happy resting even on the ledges of the bathtub.

He found everyone happy and peaceful for getting even little space. None of them cribbing or bitching. He gave his son’s room to a mother and daughter so that they could take some rest. On Tuesday, in an interview with Esyuire magazine, Dubey said that they are all backing each other.

After Monday’s protest, the owner of the Alvarez Dubey Trading Co, Dubey, came in major news media outlets and was seen as a saviour for those who took shelter in his house. There were many tweets around this.

According to what Dubey told ABC news, It was around 8:30 p.m. that he was sitting outside and saw police set up a brigade on 15 St. and Swann St. that turned into a holding area. People started sitting on his porch and asked if they could charge their phone and use his bathroom, he told the news channel. The protestors left his home after the curfew ended 6 am Tuesday.

He told NBC news that he didn’t have a choice but to let people in as the crowd came in like a tornado and they kept pulling each other inside. Once the police line had crossed by his house, people stopped pouring in and finally he was able to finally shut the door. Further, he added saying, people were pouring milk on their faces, throwing water around and he went to downstairs to get water for people who were coughing.

To avoid being arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department officers, a protestor named Meka, told BuzzFeed that he and the other protestors spent more than 8 hours in Dubey’s house on Swan Street. Having said, Dubey wasn’t left with a choice but to provide refuge to all the young protesters.

“If you had seen what was going on in front of my eyes, there was no choice. People were getting pepper-sprayed and beaten and slammed to the ground,” he told the media outlet.

‘I hope that my 13-year-old son grows up to be just as amazing as they are,’ Dubey was quoted as saying by WJLA.

On being asked about his life, he said that his father came to the US as a 19-year-old with just eight dollars in his pocket.

Further he added by saying that there were kids around 20 to 50 years spread everywhere in his house and all of them were active and safe. Despite the efforts of the police trying to pull them out they didn’t move from there until 6 am. All of them spoke and solved problems in little groups.

Dubey wished that his 13-year old son could witness all of this that happened at home as these people in his house were safe and they had the rights to do what they were doing and no police had the right to beat them on the streets.
