Ajit Pai Received Zee Entertainment award

Ajit Varadaraj Pai, who recently became the first Indian-American to chair the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has received the Zee Entertainment National Leadership Award in a function took place at Capitol Hill.

Pai, who is a telecom law expert, was appointed as the chief of FCC by the President Donald Trump in January 2017. The primary responsibility of Pai, as a chairman, is to maintain the interstate communications through radio, television, satellite, wire as well as cable channels.

The son of Indian immigrant parents, who came to US to work as doctors in rural area of Kansas, Pai, while speaking in front of the gathering of US lawmakers, industry leaders as well the press recalled his memories of growing up in the rural Kansas in late seventies or eighties. He spoke about the times when he did not see anyone looking similar to him in the public square of the town.

He also spoke about that he would never believed that a boy like him, who is shy, coming from a small town area would be felicitated by one of the leading companies in the world (ZEEL). He added that is possible only in America where he as well as various others like him can do big and be alongside the Congressmen of both the great parties.

Pai, who, just like the President, is highly vocal as well as critic of the the policies of the previous Democratic Administration, was made the Commissioner of FCC by the former President Barack Obama in 2015 on the recommendation of Republican Senator Mitch McConnell from Kentucky for a five year term. Current President Trump nominated him for the chief of FCC for second five-year term.

As a chief, Ajit Pai wants to scrap the Net Neutrality rule of 2015, which is a controversial issue. He believes that putting more regulations on the telecom companies will make to charge more for the services as well as control the flow of content. However, the discussions regarding this policy of Pai did not take place at the ceremony on Capitol Hill.
