The Department of Homeland Security of the United States has offered tips in order to plan the pandemic that are possible in relation to the coronavirus on a preparedness website.

A topic which is titled as ‘Human Coronavirus- Know the facts about Coronavirus. Public health is everyone’s responsibility,’ is now included in Ready.gov which is a website that redirects to the recommendations regarding the ways for preparing for the possible pandemic.

The Department of Homeland Security of the United States has recommended storing water and food that would be sufficient for two weeks. The Americans are also being urged by the officials for making sure that all of them have all the medications that are needed as prescribed for that time period.

The Department of the Homeland Security of the United States has recommended the following:

Before a Pandemic

  • Making sure that food and water which would be sufficient for two weeks, would be stored.
  • The drugs that are prescribed regularly are being checked periodically in order to endure a continuous supply in your home.
  • The drugs which are non- prescribed and also the other drugs should be made available like pain relievers, stomach remedies, medicines for cold and cough, fluids with vitamins and electrolytes.
  • The copies and electronic versions of the health records which have been made by the doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other sources have to be made and should be stored for personal reference
  • A talk with the members of the family and the loved ones regarding how would they be cared for if they had got sick or what is that which would be in need for caring them in your home.

If a pandemic should break out in the United States, the people of the United States are being urged by the officials for taking the steps to limit the germs being spread in order to prevent the infection. The tips also include staying away from those who might be sick, washing hands frequently and avoid getting your eyes, nose and mouth in contact with your fingers which might be a carrier for the deadly coronavirus.

It has also been recommended by the Department of Homeland Security that:

During a Pandemic:

  • Steps to be taken in order to limit the spread of the infection which would in turn prevent the spread of the infection which is caused by the deadly coronavirus which is officially named as COVID- 19.
  • Avoiding close contact with the people who tend to be sick and suffering from cold, cough or fever
  • When you are the one who is sick, distant yourself from the others in order to protect them from getting sick and infected.
  • Make sure that you use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth each time you cough or sneeze so that it can prevent the people you are surrounded with from getting sick.
  • Frequent washing of hands or sanitizing them frequently would help protect you from germs.
  • Avoid touching your nose, mouth and eyes with your fingers or palms.
  • Make sure you practice the other habits that are for the goodness of health like getting plenty of sleep which is sufficient for the body, being physically active, managing your stress, drinking plenty of fluids and see to it that there is large amounts of nutritious food intake.
