Table Tennis Men’s Doubles

Dilip Desai has made the state of Texas proud by winning the silver medal in the Table Tennis Men’s Doubles. He was representing Texas in the 2017 National Senior Games aka Senior Olympics, held in Birmingham, AL.

Dilip, from Sugar Land and his partner Don Weems has faced a stiff competition from the USA and other participating countries such as Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad/Tobago, and US Virgin Islands. The top three players from each state participated in the tournament.

Since his school days, Dilip was always passionate about Table Tennis. After graduating from college, his table tennis practice was put on hold while he chased brighter ambitions, such as pursuing his career and raising a family. He returned to the table tennis arena in 2012 to relive his passion and is a member of CCC (Chinese Cultural Club) and IPRC (Imperial Park Recreation Center). He received his coaching at CCC and practices with a robot at home.

The National Senior games are about fitness, fun and fellowship. Participation in the games at the State level or at the National level is important and winning awards is the icing on the cake.

Dilip is hopeful that more people from India will participate in these games and improve and enhance their physical and mental health and wellness.A wide array of games are there to participate like Archery, Badminton, Tennis, Cycling, Golf, Track and Field.

Dilip is looking forward to participate in the next National Senior games to be played in Albuquerque New Mexico in 2019 and is striving for a gold medal this time. His moto is 3D’s for success – Discipline, Dedication and Determination. Win or lose, Dilip Desai is determined to compete well into his senior years with the right spirit.
