“Several Gujarati origin parents, settled in foreign countries send their children to India for schooling, such students live here with their relatives passing their 10th and 12th board examinations here. As per the previous rule, such students having OCI card, need to apply only under the NRI quota of a medical college,” Patel said.

He added, “We have decided to change this rule. We will now allow such students to apply in general quota too, if provided their passed certificates of Board exams in Gujarat and have a domicile certificate.”
