Indian-Americans conducting relief operations

The Indian-American community in the Florida is helping and conducting relief operations and has opened their homes for friends, families as well as community members from the state as the hurricane Irma is on rampage at the place.

One of the most popular organizations Sewa International, is conducting relief and rescue operations and has also provided shelters to more than 300 families in homes of various volunteers of the organization in Atlanta.

According to the report published in The Economic Times, four temples have also providing shelters to the people fleeing from Florida.

Along with Indian Consulate in Atlanta, various community groups and Indian Passport holders in the state are conducting massive relief operation and saving people from the horrific natural calamity.

Amma Kitchen has also announced serving of food to the people fleeing from Florida. Various organizations have also changed their bases from Florida to Atlanta, considering precautionary measures.

According to the census of 2010, Florida has 1,20,000 Indian-Americans, which has increased to 1,60,000. Most of the Indians are living in Miami-Fort Lauderdale area followed by others such as Tampa and Orlando. Tampa is the city which is facing the danger of Irma.
