A 26-year-old Indian-origin student has been shot by an anonymous person at an eatery in Kansas city in the United States state of Missouri on Friday evening.

Sharath Koppu, a native of Warangal, Telangana who was pursuing Masters in the University of Missouri remained terribly battered when a man fired at him and rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed.

Sharath’s family learned regarding the heart-rending incident on Saturday through his networks over the telephone.

The purpose behind the killing, identity of the assassin and else facts is yet to be identified.

After engineering, he was hired at a software firm in Hyderabad and later moved to the U.S., this year.

Sharath’s father Ram Mohan, who is working in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), has sought Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj and Telangana’s Non-Resident Indian Minister K.T. Rama Rao to aid in bringing the body his home.

The incident comes after the death of an Indian techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, earlier this year killed at a bar in Kansas City in what looks like a racially driven hate crime.
