A woman trainee lawyer in the United Kingdom who has been identified as an Indian- origin was beaten up by an unidentified man following which she fell unconscious.

It has been said that the victim was beaten up when she had tried to save her Chinese friend from a racist attack which was being done over coronavirus, as said by the media reports on Monday.

The incident has taken place when Meera Solanka who is 29 years of age and who is from Solihull town of England was out with her friends among which there was a Chinese friend of hers named Mandy Huang of 28 years of age from London who was celebrating her 29th birthday in the Midlands region.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail newspaper, the Indian- origin trainee lawyer Meera Solanka was knocked unconscious and is hospitalized after she tried to save Chinese friend Mandy Huang who was a sufferer of racist attack as he was told, “Take your f****** coronavirus back home!”

Mandy Huang had been accused of carrying the virus outside Ana Rocha Bar and Gallery of Birmingham which is located on the Frederick Street during the early hours of the 9th of February.

Meera Solanki has been quoted as saying by the Sunday Mercury newspaper where in it has been mentioned Solanki describing the incident that has taken place as she has said that she was having birthday drinks with a group of girls and guys which also included her Chinese friends and they were being troubled by one among the group of Asian men who were also present at the venue.

“For some reason he got really angry with her (Mandy) and started abusing her calling her a dirty chinck. He said ‘take your f****** coronavirus back home.’ I was shocked and angry so I shouted for him to stop and tried to push him away,” as said in the Sunday Mercury newspaper.

Solanki has added saying that she was punched in her head due to which she hit the pavement and was knocked unconscious after which she had been rushed to the hospital where in she was treated for concussion.

“ I was so shocked and horrified by his aggressive behaviour and horrifying words. As I lay unconscious he continued to threaten my friends and abuse them before walking away calmly with his group of friends who did nothing to stop him or help me,” Solanki said.

According to the spokesperson of the Birmingham Chinese Society, the outbreak of the coronavirus has given a chance for few individuals as a reason to abuse.

A spokeswoman of West Midlands says that the investigation is under process after the incidents of a woman being assaulted and another being racially abused has taken place in the Federick Street, Hockley, in the midnight at around 2 am on Sunday which was 9th of February.

According to the police, the attacker has been described as an Asian of 5ft 8 in tall, of large build and it was also said that the attacker was wearing a flat cap and hoodie during the time when the incident has taken place.

As per the reports, there are around 400,000 Chinese people living in England and Wales.

The coronavirus which is officially known as COVID-19 has been first recorded in the Wuhan city of China and has spread over 25 countries across the world, claiming the lives of several people and infecting many more.
