Being at home is a blessing is disguise. But, much like the two sides of a coin, every side comes with its own set of pros and cons. Working from home can have a number of benefits for your health and feet but the downsides are just as terrifying.

Margaret Dabbs, who is a well known podiatrist reported saying that several women feel conscious about their feet. The current trend of sandals and open toed shoes further propagate the fear even more.

With such lack of care, our feet are often considered the most neglected part of our body. Even several evidence has reported the presence of Covid-19 in the feet, which is crazy when you come to think of it.

Covid toe, otherwise characterised by the red blotches and lesions on the toe and feet is one of the common sign of this viral infection.

“The rash seems to resemble pernio erythema or chilblains and is presumably related to change in body temperature,” said Dabbs.

Since viral conditions have the affinity of affecting the extremities, toes is often the first victim.

With the world under a lockdown and people self isolating, the lifestyle has been creating a havoc on your feet. We are always in a state of static, which means that we are not moving around as much as we should. This enhances the risks of plantar fasciitis, which is a condition that primarily stems from inactivity.

But, even excessive and strenuous exercise leave behind impacts on your feet, causing thickened skin, flattened arches and stress fractures.

The best way to assess your feet health is by taking off your shoes and walking around barefoot and checking whether you feel any kind of discomfort as such.

We often engage our entire concentration in working out our body but the problem lies in the fact that we neglect our feet. Even though the foot muscles are tiny, they are very crucial when it comes to the prospects of the functioning of the body.

In case you have not been paying attention to your feet during these months of self isolation, it is now time for you to take things seriously without any further complaints.

What is Covid toe?

Covid toe is a symptom of Covid-19 infection which is characterised by blisters and raised purple lesions on feet and sometimes even on the fingers. The blisters often look like chicken pox or small bruises around.

The condition can even be caused because of inflammation in the body, temperature fluctuations and the micro blood clots in the body. Scientists are still trying to figure out the exact cause behind the condition.

The lesions are often very predominant in children and young adults who have a better immunity and don’t showcase some of the most common symptoms of the disease.

The symptoms also disappear gradually within a course of a week to 10 days but can often become worse if there are respiratory symptoms involved. This can often be characterised as an early symptom of the disease.

In case you feel like you are suffering from Covid toe, it is always best that you consult a doctor about it.
