An All-girls robotics tam in Afghanistan has built a low-cost portable ventilator in this time of coronavirus. It took them 4 months to build it.

Currently the world is fighting a pandemic. Normal things like breathing, sensing of taste have now turned into a luxury. More than 13 million people have been infected around the world. People are forced to be stuck at homes; there is a shortage of supply on basic essentials for health care workers. There is shortage of food, masks, equipment and many other things. There are also shortages of ICU beds, personnel and ventilators.

People have no access to hospitals too during these unprecedented times. Imagine all of this in a war torn country like Afghanistan. People, have been losing life like crazy, there is no proper healthcare system and people are losing lives because of the expensive treatment costs. That should be no reason a person has to lose his life because he wasn’t able to afford his treatment.

During this time, humanity and technology strikes again. An all-girl robotic team from Afghanistan created a low cost and light weight ventilator that can be portable in this chaos.

It took them nearly 4 months to finish this project. It was not whole of it from their whole creation. The model of their ventilator was partially based on a design from Massachusetts Institute of technology or the MIT. They also took help and guidance from Harvard University experts.

The device or the ventilator created by an all-girls team is portable and light weight which makes it easy to carry, it also run on battery for nearly 10 hours. And the best of all is it is very cost friendly and affordable as it just cost 700 dollars and the other traditional ventilator in the hospitals cost a whopping 20,000 dollars.

The ventilator is still in the final stage of testing, the health authorities are testing it and if all goes well, the ventilator can definitely go for mass production and save millions of lives.

The country f Afghanistan also looks proud of this team and their creation as the country is having a spike in coronavirus cases and just 800 ventilators across to keep up with.

One spokesperson from the Health Ministry of Afghanistan said that after the ventilators gets approval from the health authorities after the testing are done, they will roll out the ventilators first for Afghanistan and make sure that every hospital has enough and they take the design to World Health Organisation.

Afghanistan has recorded more than a thousand death and 35,500 confirmed coronavirus cases. The government of Afghanistan is appreciating the efforts and the work done by all girls robotic team.

The team has already won international awards for its robots. They were the ones that came up with the design to use car parts for ventilators and looks like their hardwork will be flourished after the design gets approval to be used by health workers. This will definitely help in reducing the stress and over burden in the hospitals and also people can now afford to get treated instead on money getting in between their life.
