On 14 April, via social media, a man named Robert Tesh, 32, threatened to kill the Governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer and Dana Nessel, the state attorney general. He made these threats through an acquaintance.

This man was arrested that day and is blamed for being involved in terrorism. If sentenced, due to these charges, he would have to be in prison for 20 years.

To this, Prosecutor Kym Worthy says that it is a “very disturbing scenario”

He strictly states that a threat against any public official is intolerable.

Ms Worthy quoted: “You can disagree with their positions or their methodology, but you absolutely cannot act as this defendant allegedly acted or you will be charged criminally.”

On Friday, Maria Miller, a spokeswoman for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, said that these threats were not pointing at the governor’s stay-at-home orders.

Going ahead, the prosecutors have not given necessary details about Mr Tesh’s messages and on which media platform this was mentioned. Apart from this, the Governor has received many death threats from group Facebook posts. Among them, a few of them appear to be linked to the armed protesters who are against the lockdown and they’ve been expressing it outside the state Capitol in Lansing.

According to what was told to ABC news, to stay precautious while visiting Capitol, the lawmakers have planned to wear bullet-proof vests.

Officials take these threats “very seriously”. According to one of the Associated Press, the Governor stated that “It is never acceptable to make threats of violence to anyone, but our officeholders as well.”
