Republican and former Ohio Governor John Kasich spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Monday and said that though he is still a member of the Republican party, the current administration does not reflect his party.

Several Republicans turned over the party’s rules and endorsed Joe Biden during the first two days of the National Democratic Convention. Former Ohio Governor John Kasich took charge on Monday by admitting his presence was unusual but holds his responsibility towards his country.

Other notable Republicans too followed the former Governor’s path and endorsed Joe Biden publicly.

Kasich said that in normal times such a situation would not come but this is not a normal time as everyone can see what’s going on in the country and the Republican party can do better than what it has done.

Kasich declared that America is at crossroads in a video message and highlighted Joe Biden’s wisdom and legacy though both of them belonged to different parties.

Kasich was among the 16 people who battled Trump for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016 and was the last to drop out finishing fourth in earned delegates.

He stressed his bipartisan work as a Republican member of Congress during President Bill Clintons’ administration and said he was also able to work with the Republicans during his time in the Senate as Barack Obama’s Vice President.

Former New Jersey governor Christine too said in the convention that she has a long history with the GOP and said that America needs someone who can get things done and Donald Trump is not the one.

Former Hewlett Packard CEO Meg Whitman who also ran for governor as a Republican for California in 2010 was even blunter than these two. She said that Donald Trump does not know how to run a business or an economy and declared her choice to be Joe Biden.

Former New York Republican Susan Molinari Who has known Trump through her political career called Trump as disappointing and disturbing. She is supporting Joe Biden after the work they had done together to combat violence against women.

Several other Americans who identified themselves as Republicans encouraged other right-wing voters to reject Donald Trump.

Republicans speaking at Democratic Convention is nothing new. In 2012, Charlie Christ, Republican governor for Florida spoke in favor of second term for Obama. He now serves as a Democratic congressman.

Joe Lieberman, a Democratic vice presidential nominee delivered a speech at the 2008 Republican Convention for his friend John McCain.

Also on Tuesday, former secretary of State Colin Powell who served for democratic president George Bush supported Joe Biden for the values they share and said that the values of the White House must be restored.
