SEWA Atlanta

The Atlanta chapter of SEWA USA has held its annual fund-raising gala banquet at Tadka Banquet hall, Alpharetta. Mr and Mrs T R Reddy, founders and owners of the Powerline Inc. Augusta, had graced the event as the chief guests. Consul D.V Singh, and many other dignitaries of Atlanta had attended the event.

In the fund-raising event, Pratap Singh Chauhan, President of Sewa Atlanta Chapter had shared his intention of educating 10,000 children by 2020, a very admirable goal has received tremendous applause. Consul D.V Singh had shared about his association with numerous events of SEWA Atlanta that has been conducting ever since he started working with the Indian Consulate in Atlanta.

Vivek Srivastav gave a presentation on his work for the Bhutanese Empowerment Program. He enthralled the audience with the facts and figures on the impressive inroads that SEWA has made in the Bhutanese community towards education, health, family services, etc. Two Bhutanese students, Umesh Mongor and Padam Koirala were presented with the scholarships for achieving excellent GPA’s in High school.

Yogesh Thapliyal gave an engrossing presentation on the progress SEWA has made in the past year. Another significant program run by SEWA is the Sponsor A Child program, in which SEWA, with its own network and the help of other co-operating institutions and donors sponsor the education, lodging, school and axillary expenses of under privileged children.

Sarita Rana and Mayuri Singh has delivered an informative presentation on the success of SEWA in the area in the past year. Mr Ankur Rana and Mrs Sarita Rana’s were honoured for their initiative, Knowledge Momentum Inc. Through their organisation, they have sponsored the education of 73 girls. Mr. and Mrs Ankur Rana were honoured with “ Sewa Humanitarian of the Year Award” by Atlanta’s philanthropist Dhiru Shah.

Mr Anil Dhamani’s contribution towards the sponsoring of 100 children in 2017 was recognized and applauded by the audience. Mr Milind Thakre gave an engaging presentation on the progress SEWA has made on working with grassroot level small and mid range farmers.

Dr Prasad Garimala, an Oncologist and avid supporter of Sewa, gave the vote of thanks and thanked the audience for their contributions towards SEWA’s efforts. He thanked TV Asia’s Anjali Chhabria for covering the event.

The audience was entertained by the artistic Indian and Western dances by four different troupes. SEWA has succeeded in raising $78,000 in the fundraiser event.
