Recipe 1 – Brown Wheat Flour Halwa

Brown flour halwa is a staple sweet dish of all the Punjabi’s. This is served as prasadam in the Gurdwara too. This sweet dish is made with ghee and flour. These ingredients are healthy. In case you are too skinny and want to put on weight, you can have a few bites of brown flour halwa twice a week.

What You Need

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 and ½ cup ghee
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 small cup dry fruits

Method to prepare

  • Take a thick pan and let it heat for a few seconds
  • Add wheat flour and dry roast it until the flour turns brown
  • Add ghee and stir it for ten minutes on low flame
  • Slowly add water to this flour and stir it well
  • Once water and flour get blended well, add the required sugar and keep stirring till all the sugar and water gets mixed with the flour
  • In the end, the flour should be cooked well
  • Taste it a little and add some more sugar if needed
  • In the end cut all the dry fruits into smaller pieces and garnish the halwa

Recipe 2 – Brown Sweet Bread

The desi name to sweet bread is even known as double ka meetha. This is a lavish sweet dish and it is usually made for a special occasion. Why wait for an occasion? Prepare this sweet dish at your convenience and whenever you feel like bingeing on it. At times, if a few pieces of bread are remaining, you can touch on your creativity and prepare this sweet dish.

What you need

  • A few pieces of bread
  • 5-6 tsp Oil
  • 4-5 Almonds
  • 2 tsp Ghee
  • 3-4 Cashew
  • 2 Cups condensed milk
  • Boiled Sugar and Water
  • Rose water

Method to prepare

  • Begin with cutting a bread into 4 square pieces
  • Take a pan, add oil, and heat it for a while
  • Add the bread pieces and deep fry it
  • Allow them to cool for a while
  • In the same pan, add almonds and cashews, roast them for a few seconds and take them out to add it on all the bread slices towards the end
  • Now you have to dip this roasted bread in milk and sugar water
  • Take another pan, dip the bread in milk and toast it on either side for a few seconds. Repeat this process with all the bread pieces
  • Allow these pieces to cool and put them all in boiled sugar and water for a well so that the sweetness gets immersed into the bread
  • Now add dry fruits and one drop of rose water on each bread slice

Recipe 3 – Brown Wheat Flour Laddu

Healthy ghee laddu’s are healthy during the winter season and known to be the best for children and pregnant women who need that extra energy to build stamina. As you take a bite of the laddu, it will slip and melt in your mouth. The more you stir this flour, the better it will taste.

What you need

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups ghee
  • 8-10 Almonds for garnishing – optional

Method to prepare

  • Take a pan and allow it to heat for a few seconds
  • Now add wheat flour and stir it until it turns brown
  • Add ghee little by little and keep stirring the wheat flour and ghee
  • See to it that the wheat flour is thick enough to be converted into round balls
  • Mix the ghee and flour well
  • Grind the sugar and add it to this flour. Stir these ingredients for another ten minutes. Let sugar get mixed well, it should not be visible
  • Allow this mixture to cool down
  • Start making the balls and let the size be according to your preference
  • Garnish the laddu with ground pieces of almonds
