Spain will not stop using HCQ to treat COVID-19 patients even after WHO instructions. The country doesn’t see any reason to stop using the anti-malaria drug unlike other countries. Whereas many countries including France, Italy and Belgium stopped using the drug.

The World Health Organization gave an instruction to stop using HCQ medicine as a health concern.

While countries have stopped using HCQ drug, a separate trial is going on- a UK regulator said. The research is under progress in the University of Oxford. The research includes 40,000 healthcare workers.

Post the early reports it might help at least a few patients. Previously, HCQ was used as a potential COVID-19 medicine.

One of the big supporters was US President Donald Trump and he described the drug as a “Game Changer”. Later he also announced that he was taking it to prevent the infection.

The recent studies identified serious issues with the treatment of HCQ. British Medical Journal The lancet said- the hydroxychloroquine can lead the coronavirus patients to die and also experience the irregular heartbeats. Another study from Lancet found that there is a higher mortality rate who were treated with the anti-malaria drug.

The Medical agencies in France and Italy strictly instructed that the drug should not be used outside the clinical trials. If trials to evaluate them must also be considering the potential risks, said Belgium’s regulator.

The US Food and Drug Administration is allowing healthcare providers to use hydroxychloroquine for COVId-19 through the emergency-use authorisation but has not approved them to treat it.
