On December 21st, at night, Jupiter and Saturn would come close to each other with a distance of around 735 million kms.

This is supposed to be a rare celestial event and their closeness would appear like a bright star.

After 1623, these two planets will come this close after a long time. That being said, the Director of M P Birla Planetarium, Debi Prasad Duari, termed this as “a great conjunction”.

Further, he added saying “If two celestial bodies visually appear close to each other from Earth, it is called a conjunction. And such conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter is at times called a great conjunction.”

The next time, the closeness between these planets would be seen again on March 15, 2080.

As each day passes, these planets will get progressively even more close to each other. This conjuction in India is expected to be seen right after sunset.
