With several UAE based NRIs wanting to come back home, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has warned the expats against any of the fraudsters who are leveraging the repatriation process to scam the residents there.

“It has come to our notice that certain fraudsters are calling Indian nationals in the name of their travel to India and taking bank details or OTP. Consulate officials are reaching out but will never ask for bank or card details and payment to be made directly to airlines,” the Consulate tweeted for clarifications.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the rescue mission by India, the government has finally announced its repatriation plan that is going to start from May 07, 2020.

Over 200,000 Indians from across the globe have registered and requested to be rescued from the countries they are in. The priority for the repatriation is going to be given to the blue collar workers in distress, the people with medical emergencies, senior citizens, pregnant women and the individuals who have lost their jobs.

The Indian Consulate last week warned all the expats saying that they didn’t bring out any circular asking for the email id and verification from the individuals. In case something like that happens with them, it is necessary that they consult the authorities.

“It has come to our notice about circulation of messages regarding details of visit visa holders, elders, jobless etc. to be sent to Indian Consulate Dubai for repatriation. CGI Dubai has not issued any such advisory. Indian nationals should take note of this,” they further tweeted.

Even the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi clarified that they have not sent out any kind of messages regarding the process of repatriation of the stranded Indians in the country.
