The Canadian Indian community members held an anti-China protest in Vancouver outside the Chinese Consulate Office.

The ongoing clash between India and China is no secret. There has been a prolonged battle between China and India over the Line of Action Control in Galwan valley of Ladakh. On the night of June 15th 2020, China’s People Liberation army or the Chinese PLA troops initiated a violent attack on the Indian soldiers. These attacks happened even though India and China were in the status quo of de-escalation. In the violent faceoff where China did not keep their word of mutual understanding and did not stand by the mutual decisions which were already taken in the month of May, Chinese PLA troops martyred 20 of the Indian soldiers. We have no information of how many Chinese soldiers were killed that night because China has not given us any number of their men who got killed.

With the self-reliant program of the Prime Minister the people of India have already been promoting the hash tags boycott made in China products. And now after the Indo China clash at the Line of Actual Control, Indians in the country and all over the world have been banning Chinese products and deleting apps from China. One such incident happened in Vancouver in the morning of 24th June when the members of the Indian community in Canada held an anti-China in front of the China Consulate office. The protests were seen carrying the Indian flag with holding signs with messages like ‘Boycott China’ and Back-off China. They were also heard calling China to stop the war and that we need peace in the world. The protestors were also seen maintaining a social distance protocols and walking on the side walk wearing masks due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Soon after that the clash between India and China there has been a cold tension and words were exchanged between the governments. The government had already taken a few measure by cancelling government related projects given to China and also the government has made a statement that China would not be given contracts for any government related projects. Many shops in the country have also stopped selling Chinese products including smartphones and electronics. The government has also made it mandatory for sellers to mention the country of origin on their e-marketplace platforms.

India has been consistently sending a message to Beijing that the PLA troops of China should vacate the posts in the Galwan valley as it comes within the Indian Territory. Both the China and India came to a status quo regarding the situation in Ladakh in May, but China did not stand by its end of the bargain and attacked soldiers killing 20 of them.

The government also conveyed the same message to China, that the Chinese troops should back down as the Galwan valley comes under the Indian territory in a 11 hour long meeting on Monday. After an 11 hour long Corps Commander Level talks between India and China both the sides have reached to a mutual consensus to disengage.
