On Wednesday, in the country’s Parliament, one of the youngest and newly-elected MPs in New Zealand, took an oath in Sanskrit.

Sharma, 33, comes from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur, the Labour Party for Hamilton West in New Zealand elected him as the Member of Parliament.

Sharma did his MBBS from Auckland and MBA from Washington. He is working as a General Practitioner in Nawton, Hamilton.

On the work front, he was involved in public health policy, medicine and consulting in Newzealand, Spain, The US, Nepal, Vietnam, Mongolia, Switzerland, and India.

Muktesh Pardeshi, the Indian High Commissioner to New Zealand and Samoa, quoted this on twitter “New Zealand’s indigenous Maori language, followed by India’s classical language – Sanskrit, showing deep respect for cultural traditions of both India and New Zealand.”

With an intention of paying homage to all the Indian languages, Sharma took an oath in Sanskrit.

In 2017, he unsuccessfully fought elections and defeated Tim Macindoe of the National Party this year.
