According to the reports, a Canada-based NRI couple were allegedly murdered with sharp edge weapons at their local residence located in Phagwara on Saturday.

Upon hearing the pleas from the neighbours, the Senior Superintendent of the Police Satinder Singh rushed to the spot and identified the deceased to be Kirpal Singh Minhas and his wife Davinder Kaur who are 67 and 65 years old respectively.

The couple had come to visit Phagwara for a few months to visit from Canada but got stuck in India because of the imposed lockdown and the restrictions on the international flights. They were planning to return to Canada once things got back to normal.

The SHO Onkar Singh further reported following the investigation that even though the entire house was ransacked, nothing was found stolen from there.

They further said that one of their tenants, Jassi Dholi was also missing ever since the incident. The police have currently lodged the case under the Section 302 of the IPC and the bodies have been further sent for autopsy to get an exact cause of death along with the concrete timings of the death to further establish the case.
