UK-NRI-Threatened

An UK based NRI from Leicester City filed a complaint on Monday with the Vastrapur police station. He claimed to have been threatened by a cloths showroom manager from Rajkot over a payment dispute. The NRI had bought clothes from the said showroom a month ago.

As per the lodged FIR, the victim, Bharat Madhavji who is 57 years old stayed in the Vastrapur hotel and has been visiting the other parts of Gujarat and the entire city during his stay in India. He landed in India on December 17, 2019 and then went to visit Rajkot on December 24, 2019.

It was later on January 04, 2020 that Madhavji decided to visit a garment shop in Rajkot and bought two piece for pants from the store amounting to INR 3,818. He paid the said money and left for Ahmedabad on Monday.

After reaching, Madhavji was approached by a man, claiming to be the manager of the showroom who claimed that the NRI didn’t pay the amount for the purchase that he made in the shop. As Madhavji clarified stating that he had paid the amount and then left the showroom, the accused kept on threatening Madhavji with dire consequences if he didn’t pay the amount.

In the FIR, Madhavji mentioned saying, “The man threatened me that if I do not pay the amount, he would conspire and cancel my flight to England.”

He further clarified that he got the news from the main desk of the hotel that someone had priorly come and enquired about Madhavji and his whereabouts. Scared after hearing that, he decided to take the matter to the police station which is where he then lodged an FIR.

Madhavji lodged a complaint of criminal intimidation against the claiming showroom manager.
